Anyone have experience with Cradlepoint routers/modems?

I am finally taking the leap and getting a MBR1000.

How do you feel about staying up to date with each firmware change? Which one are you running?

Here is a thread about it.

I will be using a Verizon Novatel 2200 MiFi card and a Virgin USB broadband unit
also maybe tethering my Android with T-Mobile.

thanks!

You do realize that if you're running Froyo (android 2.2) or later, you can just create your own hotspot with your Android phone?

If you are using the MiFi why do you need the router, the MiFi can connect five devices?

Maybe OP needs to connect more than 5 devices or device don't have build-in wifi.

MBR1200 user here. Running 1.70
L O V E I T !
Supports just about everything we've thrown at it. Great road warrior tool. We've run 10-12 people on it with Sprint, AT&T, and All-Tel modems. Combine it with OpenDNS and you've got a powerhouse.
As far as updates go, I read what they offer and if nothing earth moving(security/features I'd like to play with) I pass.

As others have noted the need to exceed the 5 device limit is a compiling factor to get a Cradlepoint. Also, it charges the modems/phones(if needed) which is a huge plus on long projects. Plus 4 wired ports is a nice back up.

As for the devices you are using:
Verizon Novatel 2200 MiFi = Plug and Play functionality
Virgin USB broadband unit(guessing the Ovation MC760)? = Plug and Play functionality
tethering my Android with T-Mobile. = Might not work, Android support on Cradlepoint devices is poor/non-existent at the moment.

I have an MBR1000 I use for work. It doubles as a fallback internet connection in the office and then does the job well in the field.

I use two separate Verizon USB cards and they both hook up seamlessly.

The wired ports are a nice plus.

CTR 500 user here (it has an expresscard slot, fill it with an Option 442 and you will have HSDPA coverage basically worldwide). Love the thing. Just love it. And , the old adage is relevant: if it aint broken, why fix it? No need to FW up if you have a working set.
