The UNLIMITED $8 Boingo plan for mobile devices is a great deal.

Morals aside, you can create a wifi hotspot with your mobile device (Jailbroken iPhone) and connect your laptop to it.

I don't think so, but you can try Worldwide Dialup at http://www.worldwidedialup.net. I don't remember the exact chain of events, but last year they contacted me as a replacement to i2roam when they ceased service. I don't need them all that much, but occasionally they do come in handy.

Thanks
I will email them some questions and see what they say.

Hi all

I just had a very bad experience with boingo. I bought 1 h connection for about 6 euros and did not use it all. After some days I re-entered the boingo system thinking to use the remaining time and they charged my credit card by pay pal for 16 euros with asking for any permission.
I wrote them and they told it was for the second connection (much less than 1 hour). So, pay attention to boingo, they can charge your credit card without asking for permission!

Just to share my experience with Boingo: While staying at the Hilton Bonn (which has the audacity to charge €20 per day/per device) I signed up to Boingo's Europe+ tarif. All was fine until today when I received notification that $180 were taken from my account (on top of the already paid $34.95).

When queried Boingo responded:

We do see that there were some errors in our billing system regarding that usage however and the charges are not accurate. As a result we've refunded those extra charges back to the xxx account we have on file.

You should see that total refund of $180.84 (USD) back in your xxx balance in three to five business days.

Last time I looked Bonn, Germany was in the heart of Europe. While they acknowledge their errors I still find it a bit rich that I have to wait for a refund for up to 5 days.

Not very confidence inspiring the way Boingo conducts its business.
