FlightGlobe: an OpenFlights visualizer
If you're anything like me you obsessively track all of your flight history in an OpenFlights account (actually, FlightMemory seems to be the favorite around here, but OpenFlights can actually connect to FlightMemory and load all your data from it).
I wanted a neat little animated way to relive my years of flying. So I wrote a little doodad, which I call FlightGlobe. All you need to use it is a CSV file of all your flight information exported from OpenFlights. (Log into OpenFlights, hit "List Flights" and you'll see "Export: CSV" at the right. Click that.) The application will prompt you to locate the file when it loads. Try it out and let me know what you think! Mac version Windows version And Processing source code, if anyone is curious how it works. |
Will take a look, thanks. Really would be nice if there was app that replaced FlightMemory completely.

Not to offend, but has anyone vetted this software yet??

I couldn't get it to work. After I opened the .exe, I navigated to and opened the .csv file from OpenFlights, but it just remained a blank screen. I'm on Win7 Home Premium.

I'm considering embedding this in a web page as an applet instead of trying to distribute it as a native binary - I think that might be part of the problem. |
I downloaded the windows version of the software on my (old) XP computer. It downloaded and installed fine. When I run the software, first there's a white screen, then it goes black, then the pop up asking for the CSV file appears. I select the file and then the screen returns to a white screen, but nothing happens.
I am having the same problem when I downloaded the software. I was wondering if others are having the same issue. If I could get this program working, it would be great! |
