Anyone had "charging not supported" with ipod touch
Anyone have any ideas?
I have an ipod touch connected to my B&W Zeppelin. It worked fine for 3 months until a few weeks ago the ipod touch stopped charging when attached to the zeppelin. It says "charging is not supported with this accessory". It works fine with my friends Bose system. So I returned the Zeppelin - they sent it back - no fault found. Went into a local shop - tried my ipod touch on their zeppelin - same fault. I assumed ipod touch damaged - but charges fine when charged via my netbook and on Bose system. Borrowed my mates ipod - it charges fine on my zepellin. Not found another ipod touch 3rd Gen to try and charge on my zeppelin. Anyone any ideas? B&W say Zepplin is fine. Apple say ipod touch is fine if it charges via netbook and on Bose system... |
Did you do a firmware update?
Many accessories are not supported with the newer firmwares http://discussions.apple.com/thread....15874&tstart=0 One thing that I was able to bypass this error message using my tumi charger is plug in in and out and again real quickly |
I updated to 4.01 software - would that be it?
On the B&W website it says it is compatible. I gather 4.02 is out next week - wonder if that will fix it? Is it possible to downgrade easily? |

Downgrading is possible. I never had to downgrade, but google comes up with results like so http://thetechjournal.com/electronic...to-3-1-3.xhtml *use at own risk* |
I had this issue occur with aftermarket chargers for my iphone4. It seems to be a glitch. The easy solution is just to change chargers, they are pretty cheap even for OEM.

I don't think a B&W component is like your $2 wall wart. :) -David |
I had this problem when I replaced my original, first gen iPod touch with a new one. Turns out the wall charger for the original one won't work with the newer models. Really pissed me off that after buying a new iPod I then had to also replace my charger kit (the one with all the international plugs).

There's no reports of other ipods being affected and there's been no upgrades of Zeppelin or Touch software recently so that only leaves Apps. Has anyone reset their Touch and tried it before syncing? Edit - worked when I reset it and re-synced. Now all I've got to do is sort out the Apps again as I've lost the structure I had |
Occasionally, an iPod might claim that charging is not supported but will charge anyway. Best not to do anything drastic too soon and just give it a moment.
