Comcast is spamblocking me

Comcast has been spamblocking my domain for a month, so I can't e-mail anyone on Comcast. I've filled out three reports with their online reporting tool over the course of a month with no response. I have Listed Sender ID, proper SPF record, and matching forward and reverse DNS, so there is no reason for them to block me.

I've just spent a half hour in on line chat with one of their customer "analysts". They claim to have absolutely no way to report this- I have to get a comcast customer to report it for me, or, if I drive out to one of their local sales offices they say I may be able to get the sales clerk to help. Yeah, I spend time, drive out, explain it all to the high school kid behind the counter, and convince them to work on the problem? Or I have to explain it to one of the comcast customers who has e-mailed me (and to whom I can't reply) and explain the issue to them so they can open a ticket on it?

Their online support person stated that the "Local office also has access that we don't, they do have direct contacts to certain department". In other words, the company set up a sandboxed CS department which can not reach other departments to resolve problems.

This is insanely incompetent.

Does anyone have an internal phone number for an intelligent person within the tech area of that company?

Are you sure your domain hasn't ended up on any other blacklist? Check it against the most common lists at rbls.org.

I found out it is on two blacklists. One is clearly a scam/extortion operation:

backscatterer.org will take me off the list for $103, and they accept paypal
The other had a form I just filled out, it says it will remove me within 15 minutes. Hard to believe Comcast is basing anything on such flaky outfits.

I hated dealing with Comcast at a job where one of the things I had to do was to get off spam lists.

Getting on the list can be as easy as some set number of comcast people clicking on something that came from you as spam, and poof, you are on the list. Even worse, if you are using a shared host for mass mailing (like constant contact or something) or a domain host (like namecheap) they will block everything from that host even if it's not anything to do with you.

It's not going to be easy, and it's probably not going to get you to a human any time soon, but don't give up. It's been a few years since I've had to deal with them, but just keep trying.

Agree with Cordelli. I made my upstream assign a different IP block one time when they gave me some addresses that had been prior used by spammers. Far easier than dealing with the various entities.

At some point, the FCC or some other government agency is going to have to get involved. Heck, wrap it into the net neutrality debate.

I wouldn't be too shocked that the incompetent fools @ the outsourced CS place are kept sandboxed from the rest of the groups :) I wouldn't want to give them access to anything I owned.

That's a forum where you deal directly with people at Comcast that know what they are doing.

They should also be able to tell you the exact process to follow the next time this happens :)

I am a comcast customer, and I got great support from this forum for an issue I had.
