iPhone Jailbreak on 4.1

My iPhone is currently running on 4.0.2 and I need to Unlock it before I fly in a few weeks. I have read that there might be a unlock coming out for the 4.1 but not for the 4.0.2.

Shall I upgrade to 4.1 in the meanwhile to benefit from the extra features? Does anyone on here know if that will update any baseband? Any problems with that?

not enough info there, but you can try the wizard on iclarifiled.com

Yeah there isn't much on there. Most of the websites suggest that Green p0ison will be launching a jailbreak for 4.1

You can unlock some of them on IOS 4.1. What type of iPhone do you have? Also if you are in the UK mobile phone networks can unlock them for about £15 each.

Believe you need to Jailbreak it first, before running the unlock program...

I use www.jailbreakme.com from the iphone itself. It runs the program to jailbreak and install cydia, then you just run a package in there to unlock. You'll want to check 4.1 compatibility first but I think it's ok

Its a iPhone 4. Mobile networks here won't unlock till the contract is up, usually 12 months later.

Jailbreakme is only up to 4.0.1 and not compatible with 4.0.2.

Ah ok thanks. I have an Apple sourced iPhone 4 so just a bit of Sim card shaving when I'm abroad and good to go :)

I like Redmund Pie for my iPhone jailbreak info.

For iPhone 4 the latest jailbreak is for 4.0.1. You could downgrade to 4.0.1 then jailbreak. The easiest would be jailbreakme.com

If you had a 3Gs you could jailbreak 4.1

Also i am not even sure you can unlock the iPhone 4 after you have jailbroken.

Thanks. Think I will wait it out for a few weeks and if 4.1 does not have a Jailbreak will downgrade.

Did you previously save jailbreak and save your SSH file? If not, you will not be downgrading.

Jailbreak for 4.1 was released. I ran it on an iPod Touch on 4.1 and it worked perfectly.

Do you have to re-load your previously added Cydia apps?

Yes, but AptBackup will help you restore them.
