OK, I went into Properties on My Computer and changed the name to "Laptop". My desktop is "owner-1b1398977"

I then went to RUN (on my laptop) and typed in "\\owner-1b198977\c$" (without the quote signs) and it didn't work. :( I also tried using the IP add. but that didn't work either. The message was "The network path was not found"

Next? :)

Are you able to ping the desktop from the laptop? Are they on the same network? Is there a firewall enabled on the desktop? you may want to disable it to see if its blocking the connection? If not a firewall might there be some other security software?

Can you go the opposite way(from the desktop to the laptop)?

SUCCESS! It now works. :) I can now share files between the two. Thanks so much. I'm not sure HOW it happened but it happened. Thanks to all who helped.

I tried to ping using the IP but that didn't work. I then tried using the computer name & that worked. Worked in both directions.
