If you can get to the XP "System Restore" function use it to go back in time to before you got the virus or any other nasty stuff. Its worked for me quite nice for numerous times.

Actually you might need to Flush System Restore

Thats a good suggestion. I do it after doing a successful system restore, running a few days with no problems and then erasing all the restore points.
