Portable / Mobile RSS Feed Aggregator
I have gone from using RSS Bandit to the RSS feed feature in IE over the last year or so, but am looking for a new solution. I am increasingly switching back and forth between laptops or not taking one at all. I'd like to use an aggregator that stores my feeds online and lets me access them from anywhere. I know Google has a feature like this, but before I go through the pain of moving my several hundred feeds I thought I'd see what folks here do for their feeds.
Any ideas or feedback is, as always, appreciated folks. |
I use google reader which you mentioned. Do you think there's some reason not to use reader?
They have a feature that makes it very easy to share links, etc with your friends. You have to follow each other. -David |
+1 Google Reader.

+1 Google. There are also numerous offline reader apps which can sync to and from Google Reader when you want to read without an internet connection (e.g. on a plane). I use MobileRSS on my iPhone and it is basically seamless.

My vote goes to Google Reader as well. I use it in conjunction with NetNewsWire, both on my Mac and my iTouch.
Most up-to-date RSS clients should have the ability to export your feeds and Google Reader is pretty robust when it comes to importing feeds. Exporting everything into one file makes migration a lot easier than manually adding feeds. |
LIH Prem asked why I haven't followed up here and if I had a problem with Google Reader, so I'll reply to allow him to sleep better at night! :)
I just simply haven't had time to try Google Reader, but it sure sounds like it is exactly what I'm looking for. I poked around for a short while and see that I can import my feeds which makes it a no-brainer to try when I get back to my PC where I maintain the links. When I initially looked at the reader, it was part of a snapin on iGoogle or something like that and the ability to import wasn't obvious to me. I thought that meant I would have to manually move my several hundred feeds...by going to the dedicated Reader site, however, I see the import feature. It looks like I can only go one folder deep when structuring the feeds but I can adapt to that. Thanks for all of the votes of confidence for GR folks. |
