Welcome to FT are you asking has anyone heard of O2/used them, in which case the answer is yes millions of us (I have one of my mobiles with them). They are one of the largest mobile operators in the UK.

Never heard of CallinEurope but O2 sims are available in the baggage reclaim at T5 from a vending machine.

Jimmie,

Thanks for your reply. I have indeed heard of O2 UK, my question was more about the company selling it.

Thanks for the other information as well about Terminal 5.

You can also buy Sims for £1 in half the corner shops in the UK. And many phone shops give them away for free

I have not used www.callineurope.com , but have seen the website. You are much better off buying a sim card in the UK. If you look at the T&C I think they have a $65.00 a year fee to keep active. I have had a vodaphone card for several years all I have to do is send a sms every 180 days to keep active. If you roam on the call in europe card it is expensive. I uderstand that the data charges are crazy something like $5.00 a mb. Local sim cards have a cap on roaming set by the EU. I hope this helps.

Agreed to buy one when you get there. There's apparently vending machines in LHR and other airports; I was in Manchester and saw a mobile phone store right in arrivals the other week.

It takes about 5 minutes to do the whole thing and top up at the same time and you're good to roll.

Honestly, I would just have your taxi driver stop at the newagents on the corner of Bath Road (the A4) and the A312 (Cranford roundabout), pick up a SIM and a Fruit and Nut bar.

Two SIM cards companies are lyca and lebara that can be purchased in most corner shops and railway stations.
I use Tesco pay as you go which has the advantage that the balance does not expire even if you don't use it for a year.

Mind another question?

So I buy a UK sim card for my unlock US Verizon Storm 2 - how do I get my data? Is it easy to configure? I do need to get my emails. I'm baffled.

Thanks.

You will need to make sure that you can get a prepaid Blackberry-specific data plan. Such plans are very rare; I doubt you'd be able to find one. You can still use the Blackberry as a phone and SMS device.

Hey, are you just visiting the UK? If so then you could take a look at renting a phone out while you stay, especially if you need data. As the guy above said prepaid blackberry rates are hard to find. Take a look at places like www.fonmigo.com or www.cellhire.com

Not in the UK they aren't - Tmobile & Orange & O2 offer them Orange is £5 a month (fair usage, it was 50MB - I think that's what they said when I started) I have no idea about T-Mobile, see below for O2.

Just get an Orange Sim, top up at least £5 although you will need more as you need to call them to have the BIS bundle added, and then they will send you the service books etc.

O2 are offering
