Thank you all for the help. As I quickly learned, 10.5.8 is no longer available for download unless you find an older version online or purchase one of the 10.6 upgrade packages. Just purchased a new iMac.

The difference is that for their newer machines, they started providing way more power from the USB port than on earlier machines. A typical USB port shouldn't provide more than 500mA. The iPad needs way more than that to charge (especially if it's on). http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/ai_charger/ |

http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/ai_charger/ I tried it on my Dell E6400. It did not work. Interestingly, I plugged my iPad into the 12v power port on a Ford Flex and the iPad said it was charging. This may be another solution when you are on the road and need a quick power fix without your power brick. |
