Can one integrate google maps with laptop GPS device?
 

I recently signed up for Virgin's pay-as-you-go wireless broadband. It is excellent and very cheap. I also bought a USB GPS device for $25. It was 2006 microsoft streets and maps which came with the device. Anyone know of any online services that provide GPS tracking/directions for free? Can google maps be integrated with the GPS device?

Not Google Maps, but Google Earth supports GPS device. The basic version is free and does pretty much everything that Google Maps does.

Google Earth also will give automatice lat long for anyplace you choose to identify there and export them in most GPS unit formats. You make need to do some tinkering to ensure that your device will properly read the information, but it is usual;ly quite easy.
