Best Proxy Service for U.S.?
 

I spend most of the time outside of the U.S. Wondering what is the best proxy service to use when I need to access websites & services that require me to be in the U.S.?

I have never found a reliable free anonymous proxy service - reliable meaning that the proxy does not at times slow down the connection so much that it is effectively useless. In addition, the other aspect of reliable - that you can set it up and leave it, as opposed to finding the proxy server works one day and doesn't work the next, is the real problem with free proxies. Finally, in today's world, using a free, anonymous, proxy is a very high risk activity since the proxy sees all traffic in both directions, and has the opportunity to inject scripts to your browser.

Of the paying options, I have used Relakks and Acevpn, in both cases to do the opposite of what the OP wants - I wanted to appear to be in the UK or Europe while in the US. Both work beautifully, are easy to set up and reasonably priced. Relakks does not offer any servers in the US, but Acevpn does and it is easy to pick which server you will use, so it would do exactly what the OP is looking for. The VPN solution is also a much more practical method than changing your internet settings to use a proxy server.

I use hotspotshield, a free vpn service. Sometimes the connection speed can slow down for no apparent reason but its ok generally.

Thanks for both of these solutions. I have had regular problems accessing my US accounts from outside the US. I shall try these options.

At the suggestion of someone on here I signed up for blacklogic vpn and its been rocksolid and pretty decent speeds. They have servers in Canada, US, UK, Germany and Netherlands

I currently use foxyproxy's paid service and have not been 100% impressed with its (lack of) versatility...plus, Hulu seems to be on to them.

Now, I'm about to give StrongVPN a try because they support multiple devices, have DD-WRT support, and seem to earn favorable reviews. If you want a referral, let me know.
