iPhone Battery Replacement Experiences?
 

I have an iPhone 3G and the battery in it lasts less than a day if use 3G services for any amount of time.

I know Apple will replace batteries ($85.95), but there are also 3rd party vendors that can do it as well for me locally and also online.

Has anyone had a battery replacement via Apple or 3rd party and how was the experience and results?

Or were you adventurous enough to do it yourself?

I used this company to replace iPod and iPhone batteries. I got the lifetime plan which essentially means every 12 months they will replace battery and charge either shipping only or installation & shipping.

On my third battery for 3gen iPod (5+ yrs old) and first replacement for 2G iPhone.

I think I am going to go with www.ipodjuice.com. It gets good reviews from people and the price is reasonable. I'll borrow an relative's extra ATT phone while it's gone. Withdrawal...wonder if I'll start to shake and sweat.

I'm not up for taking my iPhone apart and it doesn't look like they do it for you unfortunately.

Replacing on iPod is hard enough - getting case open. For iPhone, you also need soldering iron - so make sure you know what you're getting into before trying yourself :p

most of the new replacements do NOT require soldering. Many of the ones on ebay now still, WILL since they are selling the older batteries that didn't come with the attached dongle. The sites listed above, do not require soldering that indeed would be too much for the lay person.

I'm not engineer, but I've done this in about 15-20 with patience.

How about I drive 20 minutes on 101 and you can do it for me. :p

I have a 2G iPhone and was told needed a solder. Maybe the newer model easier :D

Not sure about the iPhone, but my daughter's nano required soldering to replace the battery. It was a bit of a pain, but the patient lived, and has much better battery life now.

the iphone 2g was soldered. the iphone 3g/3gs is not (although opening the phone is still a pain).

Any more recent experiences with any other companies that do new batteries for the 3G?
