Cannot Access Flyertalk

Hi All,

I'm aware that there were some issues with the site over the last few days however for whatever reason I can no longer access this site from any of my home pc's.

It is the only site that I am having any trouble with and have tried just about every thing I can think of, including removing all internet security, system restore etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ger

Ive been having issues today as well. I am quite certain it is still under cyber attack. Someone may prove me wrong but its been very hard for me to get on most of today.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Maybe try cookies too.

I've still had some access issues here and there today, so I don't think it is 100% stable yet.

Your location is listed as PER. The recent outages have had a number of fixes put into place, many of which were global region-specific. Oceania was one of the more affected areas. I'm guessing that you're still experiencing fall-out from that.

One other thing to generally try: start->run ipconfig /flushdns

If a provider changes their dns settings (like moving to a different server when under attack), your PC will "remember" the old address for however long was specified by the provider before the change. Often, these are hours if not days. Additionally, when a site is down, Windows "remembers" not finding the site for some period of time as well.

Clearing DNS cache can solve a whole bunch of name resolution issues.

Note; sometimes your ISP will also be caching ... you can override this by using a different DNS provider - or at least using something like opendns to check vs. the address you see.

Last suggestion for future use - also check with netcraft (netcraft.com). They have a tool that can be used to check to see whether the site is up from their perspective. If they see the site up and you don't, then you can start troubleshooting. If they also see it down, it's probably down.

I was unable to access Flyertalk for the last several days while in Thailand. I tried things like start->run ipconfig /flushdns and several different browsers and cleaning the browser cache and cookies.....no luck.

The only thing that worked was using a proxy server. Without a proxy, I was unable to access any of the internet brands sites. Otherwise my web access seemed normal. I am no longer in Thailand so don't know if that problem still exists.

Since the cyber attack toward IB is still ongoing, FTers in different regions are having problems getting on FT since last Friday. Your ISP is not at fault.
