Damaged NY State License
Im flying to PHX this weekend and my drivers license is damaged. The hair part of my pic looks tampered. They never gave me a problem but now i know why i got those SSSS on my pass. I remember one time i was not let into a casino because of it and at the airport in phx they had to call a supervisor. Now im kinda scared that i will not be able to fly although i have before. can i take a temp license along with my damaged one? I think is just a paper with no Photo. I also have my hospital ID it has a pic and my name. thanks

Well heres the thing my license does not expire till 2015. The reason why i waited this long is because a very long time ago i went to get a duplicate and i got it on the spot but today when i called they said i have to wait 10 days and i will get a temporary one there. In my mind i always thought ican just go have one printed out the same day liek they do in other states.

despite misleading info from TSA,showing ID still not required at airport checkpoints
Although TSA refuses to publish all the rules they require passengers to follow at airport checkpoints, from what we can distill from TSA press releases, blog posts, and other information they publish on the Web, it's relatively clear that your boarding pass is all the documentation that's ever required for domestic flights, and that you are not required to present documentation of your identity, and it is not a condition of crossing the TSA checkpoint. It seems that "showing ID" is simply a way to avoid a more thorough search of you and your belongings and/or the requirement that you participate in an interrogation intended to determine your identity.
