It's not only the security hassle, it's also meant for people who want to travel without any checked luggage but still need those conveniences

It is when you outdid the other guy; ;) it is a man "thingie"! :D

But carrying contact lens solutions will take up more than 30 seconds for physical verification of the sealed bottles by security. These solution bottles were the method of bringing explosive liquid on-board which was detonated successfully on a PR flight MNL NRT.

I can believe that it's a man thing. :p

Contact lens solution doesn't take any additional time. While it's possible to buy a 3 oz bottle, the one that I normally care is 4 oz. It goes in the bin next to my other liquids bag and is rarely still sealed. TSA has never batted an eyelash or felt a need to examine the bottle more closely.

I have a little container of the Lush dry toothpaste but can't say I like them. They are handy as a non-liquid space saver and vowed to use them up eventually but probably won't buy more. A little too gritty for my liking.

Speaking of liquid-free Lush products for men however couldn't help but notice this Jaunted newsletter article in my inbox today:

For him: So LUSH Cosmetics, a company that makes much more than cosmetics, has these super cool things called "shampoo bars." Instead of relying on the iffy quality of hotel shampoo or messing with packing your own 3oz container of hair wash, throw one of these small, solid bars into your luggage.

There's 10 different bars, each with a distinctive scent and purpose. For example, our favorite—the campfire-scent "Soak and Float"—works to soothe irritated scalps and banish dandruff. Other bars address thinning hair, oily scalps and tangled tresses. Keep them in a tin for easy grab n' go.

I have the tin and two bars and quite like the job they do and will definitely keep using them and try the different scents.

I have "borrowed" my wifes Lush solid hair conditioner (similar to the shampoo) and used it as a shaving shaving cream substitute.

Hmm, never tried that one. I use Body Shop Maca Root cream I scoop into a little container that works well for travelling. A little bit lasts a long time. I tried shave oil but didn't like it too much so stick with this cream.

I try to go liquid free, but my wife has her stuff to carry ;). However, we are getting PreCheck all the time now; the need to go liquid free seems to have decreased.

Agreeing here, LUSH solid shampoo is the last and only soap product a liquid-free traveler ever needs: it smells good, also serves as shaving soap, laundry soap, and lasts forever. As an added plus, LUSH is truly a wonderful company.
