High Sierra Rolling Backpack - 22"
I have been researching a carry on for several weeks, and have looked closely at the Antler carry on, which seems to be the lightest of all that I have seen. Then I recently went to the mall and inspected the High Sierra Rolling Backpack 22", and with the daypack removed it appears to meet the carry on requirements set by all carriers. After removing the daypack I can take that as personal luggage, and so should be okay. This site has a photo of it .. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/Pro...&cdf=TopSeller
I know that it meets the airline requiremens, but I need to know if any OP have owned/used the High Sierra Rolling Backpack 22", did it meet their expectations for size as a carry on, durability etc. I need a bag for a 3 week (carry on only) trip in August 08 to USA and looking at options. I have searched the forum, but nothing on this particular type of backpack. |
I can only assume no-one has used this bag, thanks anyway.

I have searched the forum, but nothing on this particular type of backpack. It was actually the search for a bag that lead me to FlyerTalk in the first place. My criteria were cost, carry-on size, weight when empty and internal capacity. I was surprised by how much the internal capacity of two bags with exactly the same external dimensions could vary. I was also surprised by how hard it wad to find the info on capacity. In the end, I went with the Eagle Creek 22" HoverCraft. Very light when empty, alot of capacity and expandable, got a good deal. It's pushing the limit on carry-on size though - over by an inch (why do they do that?!). I specifically didn't want one that could convert into a backpack (heard they aren't good) but if I had wanted that, the EagleCreek Crossroads would have easily won. Finally, some EagleCreek lines have lifetime 'any reason' warranty, some don't. Just my .02 |
I believe I have a model that is one generation prior. It made about 5 or 6 round trips before the handle broke off. I have yet to contact the company about a replacement as I am not sure if I would even like to.
The body of the carryon doesn't fit as much as a typical square carryon which limits space. On a few trips, I did bring the entire lot plus a 'personal item' but it was always a bit tricky getting the suitcase in the overhead. While I know that my lone experience may not be an indication of quality for High Sierra, this was a disappointing purchase.M |
You may not like the prices, but there are alot of carry-on only solutions presented here
