Magellan's First Class Sleeper
Has anyone used the "First Class Sleeper" product sold at Magellans? Supposed to make a coach seat more comfortable.
Is it worth the 40 bucks? |
Unless it can magically turn a 3 degree recline into a full flat recline I don't see how it will help much...

It's usually frowned upon to start the same thread in multiple forums.

I see that The Travel Insider has been promoting the First Class Sleeper recently. Have any FlyerTalkers given it a try? I'd love to hear some first hand reviews.

I think I would feel really lame walking onto a plane with a pillow that size, embroidered in pink!
It looks like it reduces you useable buttock space (can we cay buttock on FT?) and pushes you forward, limiting your knee space even more - I not the photo chops out his knees from the shot. Anyone who flies long haul more than two or three times a year should be able to generate enough miles with FTs help, and a few jello purchases! Suggest saving pennies or buying a Bose QC2 would be a better investment, and one you can use |
Nothing like resurrecting six year old thread!
I did a search to see if anyone uses on of these as we are considering getting a pair for a trip from Washington, DC to Thailand in coach later this year. The price is now down to $22 on Amazon. So, have any flyertalkers used one of these with success? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA200_.jpg |

That image is unlike anything you'll find in an economy cabin these days. Way more pitch and recline than you'll actually have. I'd think that putting that much pillow in to the seat is going to severely limit the actual personal space you have for your body.

I have a First Class Sleeper and used it on long haul LAS-PHL-VCE in 2008 and haven't used it since. I didn't find it very comfortable while used as in the photo but I am short so had a hard time maneuvering my head into the head rest while simultaneously scooting my butt forward. It may be different for taller people. I did find it extremely comfortable used as a lumbar pillow by folding in half with even less inflation. This is shown on the website.
It takes a while to adjust it because you have to make sure you don't have too much or too little air in the pillow. Also, every time I moved around the pillow moved so I would have to place it again. It does fold up into a bag but it's kind of heavy so I wouldn't use it on anything other than long hauls. |
Cool, thanks for the input. I'm 6'0", so hopefully I'll have a little better luck!
|
I hope you'll come back and let us know how you do with the pillow. That way I know if I should gift it to someone over 6'!

Your right and it seems to me based on the pic, its reducing the pitch.

Tried it on a transpac. I used it for maybe half a flight, hated it and returned it.

I know several FAs that fly TATL regularly who use the First Class Sleeper to in order to make the Y crew rest seats bearable. I am told only a few puffs of air are sufficient to provide support for lumbar and kneck/head.
