Tumi Alpha International vs. Continental (if you already own International)

Wondering if anyone has experience with both the Tumi Alpha international size (14" wide) and continental (16" wide) carry on sizes. As far as I can tell, they are the same dimensions height and length.

I'm currently on my 2nd international size, and have no issues with the suitcase, and can typically get 3-4 day trips covered without issue. 4-5 days are doable with creative packing, and sending laundry out at the hotel.

I'm curious if complimenting the international w/ the continental would get me out of checking for longer trips - but I'm not sure if the extra 2" will make that much of a difference.

TIA.

Update - i borrowed a colleagues continental size and it packs "much" bigger than my international. I'm going to buy one for longer trips.
