I had a stupid idea for being comfortable when flying

I am sitting at home, where its cold, and I am sitting on an electric heated blanket. I was thinking, why can't I take an electric blanket on the plane and plug it in and stay warm.

I know all the reasons that this would not work, and that its a stupid idea. But it would be pretty awesome to have electric blankets on a plane.

What other ideas do you have that would make flying more comfortable, but you know can't be done?

How about heated seats? No need for an electric blanket.

These 18 hour Hand and Body warmers are the bomb. I buy a box every year and I keep them in my carryon luggage, bug out bags etc. They are NOT prohibited to carry/use on airplanes. These thing actually last more than 18 hours. You can simply put them in a ziploc bag when you're finished and use them later. They get really hot. Just putting them in your pockets will heat up your body.

If nothing else they can save your life in a snow storm or when your electric is out too, so it's good to have in your vehicles too. They run out of stock frequently but they always have them available during the fall/winter months.

Never been on a cold plane. They're usually kept too warm for me.

Ditto, there's only 1 flight where I can remember being cold (but I always have a large scarf/wrap so I was fine) - I carry folding fans with me everywhere (and while traveling, a wicking bandana in my personal bag in case I need to wipe the "glisten" from my forehead ;-)

Oh man, I would love that. The heated seat in my VW goes all the way up my back. It's so good for tired muscles.

Most flights are a comfortable temperature for me. Last year I flew on Austrian and Lufthansa, and both were too warm--but another passenger, dressed in wool, wrapped up in a blanket immediately on reaching their seat. I've been on only one flight in the past few years that was too cold, on Icelandair. Most people asked for blankets, but there weren't enough to go around. I often bring a very large pack towel, but that time it was in a checked bag. I've been told that Asian airlines keep the cabins especially warm, but I haven't flown on one.

I don't find Asian airlines to have particularly warm cabins, but then again I'm Asian. That said, I don't find NA or European airlines to have particularly cold cabins either.

An idea I just had that CAN be done to feel more comfortable upon arrival at one’s destination on an overnight flight - I have ordered a cotton sleep dress to change into once onboard. There’s something about being in one’s travel clothes on an overnight flight that just feels dirty upon arrival. Blankets are provided on board so one can cover up more for modesty while sleeping.

I hate footrests - they take away legroom and stretching room.

Since there's no footrests usually, I just pull out my personal bag and rest my feet on it. I really like footrests on planes and buses.. 👍
