Question Can Rimowa Original Trunk Plus checked as normal luggage?

I’m wondering does Rimowa Original Trunk Plus (https://www.rimowa.com/de/en/luggage.../92580014.html) can be checked without issue?
most airlines listed dimension limitation: 62 in / 158 cm as length + width + height.
Rimowa Original Trunk Plus apparently is over the limits, its dimension is 63.3 in / 160.5 cm.
I’m worried the luggage won’t be successfully checked or it will be charged as the oversized luggage.
any ideas?

thanks.

You answered your own question.

Yes, it is technically oversized. You should expect to be paying any excess associated fees by checking the bag with the airlines.

If you find an airline associate generous enough to let it pass, be thankful.

I really doubt that any check in agent will take out a measuring tape to measure it, and then charge you oversize because it went over by 1 inch. If you are worry, just go down a size. I think you are more likely to be over the weight limit (which they WILL weight you) with the bigger luggage made of aluminum.

I wouldn't worry that much

I have an essential trunk plus and no one yet has been able to eyeball it and tell how big it is. The bigger concern for me is the weight when full and the essential hits 23kg pretty easily (and before reaching max capacity).

23 kg is the usual free weight limit, 32 kg is the max (EU labour protection laws). Business class ticket or elite status may get you waived the overwigh charges over 23 kg (but under 32kg)

Hello, there~ when you used your essential trunk plus, was it for a domestic flight between Canada/the US or was it for an international flight? I have just purchased one and am contemplating if I should downsize to the smaller size I am going to Montreal through Vancouver using Air Canada, FYI.

Thanks for your help!

I fly BKK-IST-JFK. I wouldn't worry as long as your fully packed weight is under the limit. The uniqueness of the bag's shape makes it hard to eyeball. If anything it looks smaller than it is.
