That and the prices are obscene for CANVAS! I bought a full leather montblanc large weekend bag for $1200 and that was pushing it for me. I wouldn't buy any of those ugly over inflated priced rimowa travel bags.

The "Never Still" Collection is RIMOWA's attempt to compete with its primary competitor, Tumi (Samsonite Group).
Difficult to establish a travel lifestyle brand, when the company was only ever known for hard-side luggage.
They are entering a very saturated marketplace where it is difficult to differentiate themselves from one another.

All US origin models are made in Canada.
The EU origin ( if Aluminum) used to be made in Cologne Germany - though someone told me this was moved to the Czech republic ( by order of Alesandre Jr).
If that makes you feel bad, the Colonger Dom is now the in the new Rimowa logo. A little token of what once was
I am not sure what happened to the Rimowa manufacturing in Cologne

I don't actually like the outer pocket, I like the size of this new piece of luggage and the versatility of how you can organize the interior by removing the laptop and file folder insert and go from business to leisure travel. It's the perfect size. Personally, I would like to see one in this size but exactly identical to the all aluminum original model and I would buy it today. Or even a small version of the hybrid model.
