Is Paradies Gift Shop Profiting From a Troops Fundraiser??
So, the Paradies Gift (TripAdvisor) shop in IAH has a fund raiser where you buy a piece of candy for the troops and it gets delivered to them. However, the candy costs $2.50. Assuming the candy costs the store $0.50, does anyone know where the remaining $2 goes? Does Paradies book that as profit and if so, what are people’s thoughts on that??

Rent?
Salaries? Utilities? Taxes? |
I don't know anything about this specific charity (doesn't seem like a fund raiser as you are donating a gift). Is the candy a regular item or some specially marked 'all proceeds of this product are donated, etc...'?
Seems like what goes on at many grocery stores that have a donation bin at the exit. Customer comes in, buys product at full price, donates it to food bank bin with some assistance of store. Such a plan doesn't bother me, but I do see your point. |
