Rimowa Salsa Deluxe Serial # location (need to get zipper pull replaced)

Hey guys, I have a Rimowa Salsa Deluxe (w/ Electronic Bag Tag) that had the weirdest / worst thing happen to it.

The zipper pull got stuck on the zipper pull of another piece of luggage (the folding metal piece on the slide). It happened during the taxi ride to the airport. Since I was in a hurry and in a non-English speaking airport, I finally got an airline mechanic who was walking through the airport with his toolbag to help out, but in doing so, he broke the pull off the slide.

I am preparing to contact Rimowa to determine the best approach to repair since now I can no longer lock the luggage since the pull is used as part of the lock. (any other input from experience Rimowa users and fixers is appreciated. Where can I find the serial # on the bag itself? Since it is not aluminum, it is not stamped on the case, like my other bags... So not sure where to look.

Thanks!

Patrick

Serial numbers are located near the hinge of the trolley frame.

Should be etched below the hinge assembly.

Compare that number to the service guide and the first eight digits should match what is printed on your quality control label.

Thanks I will look. Even for the Salsa with are the polycarbonate and don’t have metal hinges?

Thanks!

The serial numbers on polycarbonate frames are etched into the bottom shell of the trolley.

The numbers may be harder to read as the depth of the etching can wear over time.

On aluminum frames, serial numbers are etched onto the aluminum piping that is affixed to the frame.

The polycarbonate frames cannot be etched in this location, since the fabric of the slide fastener system is stitched on the border of the frame.

Cool. Thanks. I’ve got the bag checked in for my return flight to the US and will check then and go from there.
