Carrry on bags and Delta/Southwest?

Will they survive carry in requirements on Delta and Southwest? What airlines will it fail?

Also what is the largest size I can have on carry on on most airlines? Delta says 22" but then the bag is tapered. Any other tips?

Every carrier publishes its maximum carry-on dimensions, so easy to just check them.

"Tapering" is irrelevant because the greatest parameter for a dimension will apply.

Don't forget to include wheels & handles when measuring as many manufacturers do not, but the air carriers do.

Southwest basically doesn't enforce any carry-on size requirements as long as they can close the door. I've seen many FAs even help out with obviously oversized bags.
This actually annoys me to no end as they have free checked bags, and it takes bin space from people who follow the rules.

I've seen sizers at the gate for DL, UA, AA, AS, and WN. I've flown WN/DL only a couple times this year, but on UA/AS have only had once in my recollection seen the GA force the sizer test. She was on a power trip as later saw much larger bags rolled on.

The reality is most marketed roll-on whether glider / spinner while they fail the sizer will fit easily into overheads, the older 757/767 the don't fit efficiently width wise but still fit.

They are there if that is the route they use to filter when the flight is full and they know they will slow boarding with the need to roll off bags that have no space. The newest overhead enable most to fit up and width in and rarely have I seen even a full plane need to check, YMMV

My own carry-on is a cheap old Swissgear roller (not even a spinner) measuring 21.5x10.75x14 unexpanded, which seems mighty big to me despite being well under the WN limit. It fits easily and quickly into the WN bin wheels-in/down with plenty of extra space above it (Note: I only fly WN so I can't comment on DL's bins or enforcement of policy).

The first bag you linked measures 22x14.6x9.8 (46.4LI), well under WN's limit but exceeds Delta's by a slight amount in two dimensions.

The second you linked measures 23.6x14.6x9.6 (47.8LI), again meeting WN's limit but going well over DL's limits.

If you're flying WN, either of the two bags you linked will work just fine for you. If you're flying DL, you might get away with using them, but then if the DL crew makes you put the bag into a sizer, it probably won't fit, and you may have to gate check it.
