Thule Landmark Travel Duffel Backpack review
 

I'm one of those on a constant search for the perfect onebag travel pack... Been through Patagonia MLC, Osprey Porter 46 (old and new models), a few different Arc'teryx bags that I still use, a couple other Ospreys like the Ozone 46 that I still use, many military style backpacks from Kifaru, Eagle, and others... I could go on...

I spotted the Landmark series, Thule's latest swing into the adventure travel market at the CES show in Vegas a few months ago. Intrigued me.

I picked some up, and gave them a go. Just got back from a quick couple of rainy days in Amsterdam, figured I'd share my feedback on the new Thule Landmark series of bags and how the 70 liter in particular worked out for me last weekend.

The Landmark bags are are a duplex two-bag system, available in a:

40 liter (one 40L duffel bag with a built-in laptop compartment)

60 liter (dual bag system = one 40L duffel bag with no laptop compartment that clips into a 20L daypack)

70 liter (dual bag system = one 50L duffel bag with no laptop compartment that clips into a 20L daypack)

I like the around-town daypack + larger duffel setup. I usually squish in an Arcteryx Index 15 into my main bag to carry drinks/coat/camera around the destination. This is a bit more purpose-built, and makes some tandem features appear.
It's got a nice hard-shell top secure "pocket" for glasses and phones and such, a decent easy-access main duffel compartment, big side pocket, and the little daypack part is surprisingly useful without being too bulky.

It's a good bag. Fantastic weight support, really good belt and straps without being huge. It fits me very well. Happy-medium weight-wise. Looks well constructed and durable. Stylish if it's chock full, although a bit lumpy and shifty if not loaded. Hardshell secure top is a nice feature. Hidden passport/cash pockets. Good compromise between organization and lots of open space. Good price for what you're getting.
