Two compartments or one?

I found a 25- 26" Tumi "Lightweight Large Trip Packing Case" made of their ballistic material at a very good price. It opens to two compartments (two sides) rather than one.
Its first use will be a 2 week trip.
Will two compartments hold as much as one big one?
Thoughts?

Most luggages that size are two compartments unless they are a duffel type.

I was able to pack a ton of stuff in a 26" two compartment suitcase. For me it was the perfect checked bag travelling as it'd come at 48-49lbs fully stuffed and I was able to get more than enough inside.
