Tumi Alpha2 International at Costco
Rumor available for $325, my CEO/CFO picked one up for me to do a runoff with my BR International. Can't wait to get back home and do a side by side and decide which is really better and possibly give it a run and should be interesting and see which gets passdown to my son, LOL

What area was this at? Perhaps near PDX as listed in your bio? I was walking through a SoCal Costco last week and didn't see it there.

Tigard Costco, even local CEO didn’t see it at the Hillsboro nor Beaverton store, decided to look at the Tigard and do shopping at Washington square. Was actually looking for the Kirkland spinner also MIA. I think she said they only had four and she bought two of them |
FWIW I am returning them both, did a run off for a my standard 5 day TPAC trip that included blazer, four trousers, 5 shirts, running shoes, socks/jersey, socks/underwear and toiletries, all fit with buffer for some extra stuff. Tumi didn't come close, the aspect ratio made it very less flexible, I was surprised.

What's the aspect ratio that made it less flexible? So the Tumi didn't come close to holding as much as the B&R?

Pictures attached, I found volume was simply less. I than realized that my old Hartmann which has similar aspect ratio as the Tumi was simply bigger all around, sadly after almost two decades it is dead from everything wearing out. The BR does it more than well! I also felt upon careful examination the build on the Briggs was a bit better all aspects, also didn't like the many flaps on the Tumi. I have thought if I kept it I would have cut them all out, whats the purpose just more complexity. I also thought the internal bar as well as the pushing of inernal volume by recessing the wheels would enable materially more extra space to roll a few things like socks, didn't seem to materialize either, YMMV
I love a deal as much as anyone, but the TUMI simply couldn't hold what I needed it to, returned. https://charleschuphotography.zenfol...99587897-3.jpg https://charleschuphotography.zenfol...99587896-3.jpg https://charleschuphotography.zenfol...99587895-3.jpg |
Well the B&R is a lot wider so its not really apples to apples... would be interesting to know the cubic measurements for both.
Ironically I think the wider B&R probably fits better into overhead since it appears to be a bit shorter, even with the 4 wheels. On the flip side, the loss of width for suit jackets is a minus. |
Yes the Tumi and my old Hartman were far better for a sports jacket suit fold in, while the wider Briggs requires a different folding sequence to get in, less desirable.
What finally made me stay was I simply could pack more in the Briggs, and trivial image point how everyone and their brother brandish Tumi or Rimowa, LOL |
