So who can recommend a waterproof day-pack to keep my gadgets safe?

My small (15L) rucksack is currently drying out at home. Fortunately, I wasn't in the torrential rain long enough to risk losing anything. When I did a search on Amazon, for waterproof day-packs, one of the first options it came up with was the bag I already own (see the bit about it drying out, above).... I'm after a 20L bag. The more compartments, the better, I think (the existing bag just has one, and it's barely big enough for a phone).

I haven't used it myself, but I've heard good things about this:

The subject of backpacks is often discussed in the "Travel Products" forum here on Flyertalk. I'll move this thread for future indexing purposes.

I'm curious to see what you find. When we traveled to Costa Rica, I realized how wonderful it would be to have a waterproof daypack. My best method still is to put anything electronic into a sealed plastic bag before it goes into the pack.

What is the pack you currently have so that can be discounted (given it doesn't seem to be waterproof?).

At the moment, one of the better bets is looking like a Berghaus Freeflow bag with a built in rain cover (which seems a bit of a faff, having used camera bags with the same arrangement).

Overboard bags

I use Overboard bags in really wet conditions. Google "Overboard Bags" to get to their
website. I use these in zodiacs; they will float if inadvertently dropped overboard.

That looks like an alternative to the pelican to toss your equipment overboard. We used them for clothes and bedding for extreme canoeing/kayaking expeditions.
