Cleaning ballistic nylon?

I have had a Victorinox BigBen for the last 5 years and I just love it!

It is of course black and does not show any smudge or dirt, even though I almost always end up shoving it underneath the seat in front of me on my flights.

How would you typically clean the ballistic nylon material on the outside, other than with a brush (e.g., clean, unused shoe brush)? Are there special cleaning agents like those for certain shoes?

I never expected to have a bag last me this long, and usually my solution to previous dirty bags was to get a new one! Although usually the bag being replaced would look pretty beat up already.

Thanks for any info.

I've used upholstery cleaner with good results.
For bad stains (which you won't have a problem with I would also treat those areas with a solvent based spot cleaner.

Another thing you can look at it is that Scotchgard protection barrier spray after its clean and dry.

Bile soap in conjunction with a toothbrush is great for grease stain removals, but I'm not sure how it works on ballistic nylon.

When we get the Bissell out for upholstery cleaning we clean whatever B&R is at home at the same time.

I dust my b&r and spot clean with plain water, as needed.

Plain old laundry soap and water have always worked for me. I have a lot of motorcycle gear made out of similar ballistic nylon, and its manufacturers all say just to wash it in the washing machine.

I use a brush and garden hose or bathtub on luggage since it doesn't fit in the washing machine :D

I'd use washing up liquid in warm water with a sponge then just wipe with a dry cloth and leave to air dry.... Alternatively I reckon a foaming upholstery cleaner would do a good job of it...
