You mean ALU?

It's not even CDG proof. I got mine punctured there.

Anyone got one of these Rimowas they want to test?:):):)

No it is not you can even penetrate it if you have a big knife when using both hands so definitely not bullet proof!

But if you have it fully packed and the bag is between you and a bullet then the bullet might get trapped inside the bag and protect you from getting hit. But that is also the case when using regular polycarbonate luggage

At the terrorist attack in BRU a Rimowa alu bag stopped some shrapnel - not bullet, though. The owner probably is happy he had chosen that luggage ^

The link is in Finnish, but the picture says it all - the shrapnel stopped inside the bag.

there is no such thing as bullet "proof", only bullet resistant, but no, Rimowa suitcases are not bullet resistant, they can end up with holes in after being lobbed around either by the machines or the baggage chuckers at airports.

I was about to say "we're even then" - don't know if CDG applies to you though :D

Well.... Tank armour is (small arms) "bullet proof".... but not the best material to make a suitcase out of...

My brother got a javelin stuck in his samsonite school bag many years ago... better than in his leg! Javelin proof?? :D:D

Normal tank-vs-tank rounds are oversized bullets.

Which is why I specified small arms!

As a joke I looked up the specs of the German WWII 88mm round....

We have rifle calibres with metric designations such as 7x57, 9.3 x 64 and so on... right?

Well... the 88 turned out to be an 88 x 571R.... LOL

If you really need bullet proof, http://www.pcworld.com/article/29179...e-only-wa.html check this one out. I want to note however that most professionals who realistically can expect to be shot at travel with a security entourage who will their best to avoid the scenario in the first place.

That's pretty good. Most tanks aren't Javelin proof. :p:D

Tightly packed clothing inside a suitcase will do more to stop a bullet or shrapnel than the super thin aluminum on a suitcase. The pictured shrapnel may also not have been traveling terribly fast at the time it hit the suitcase in question.
