Recommendations for Backpack with Shoes Compartment

I'm looking for a backpack that comes with a shoes compartment as my current backpack lacks one and I find it very troublesome to pack my shoes into my backpack and creating an unsightly bulge on the backpack and sometimes hitting people accidentally when I'm in crowded places.

I intend to use it as my daily backpack (if I'm not travelling) as well as a check-in baggage (if I'm travelling).

Backpack requirements:
  • A zippered compartment to put in a few pieces of clothes, socks, jacket and toiletries
  • A shoes compartment, preferably located at the bottom or side.
  • Preferably a separate zippered compartment to slot in a 15" laptop and power cable, separate from the clothes and toiletries
  • Small to medium sized compartment to put in some stationery and a power bank
  • Side pocket to put my water bottle
  • An extra zippered compartment for me to put whatever things that's not clothes or laptop

Budget wise, hopefully it doesn't exceed $100, but I don't mind paying up to $200 if it's durable (meaning it can last 3 years or more) and fits my requirements.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Take a look at the Aer Duffle Pack at http://www.aersf.com/duffel-pack
I got one and I had the same requirements. I'm pretty happy with it. It is $149.

OP, what size "daypack" are you considering - what's suggested thus far is fine but for daily commute in big cities, I dunno.

Maybe, you want to take at the look at eBags's TLS series - like this Workstation Laptop Backpack - http://www.ebags.com/product/ebags/t...rlid=DETAIL_AI
It doesn't have a separate compartment but big enough in the bottom for a pair of shoes (in a pouch or protective bag)

Or, the eTech 2.0 Backloader Laptop Backpack, it's slimmer & almost personal bag sized for US carrier, and pack a lot. Put your shoes into a medium packing tube along with other items. Also by eBags, lifetime warranty - and both have a laptop section. It's currently out-of-stock but was on (final ??) sale at a great price (only the slimmer ones on its website now) - here's one on eBay *** specs here.

Also, checkout Timbuk2's line of backpacks - unconditional lifetime warranty, I have a slim urban backpack, good for quick overnight trip but not with a pair of extra size #12 shoes.

BTW, welcome to FT's.

Sorry, I neglected to mention that Aer is also working on a smaller version for everyday carry called the Fit Pack: http://www.aersf.com/fit-pack/

I'm looking at at 35L bag. The 35L is kind of an overkill if I'm not travelling and not going to the sports hall, but is a good fit if I use it for travelling or bring my laptop and exercise clothes and shoes along.

It's actually just nice for cities.

Hi jdlnmia,

Thanks. :) I will take a look at Aer.

There's a large number of Shoe Covers that you can buy. I'd get some of those rather than a special bag with a compartment - lots more flexibility in choice and packing.

No more risk of a bulge with those than with any other bag, so long as you pack well.

The North Face Overhaul 40 available exclusively at REI.

It's a bit bigger than your target but it is a great bag with its own bottom entry shoe compartment.

They just released gen 4 so you can get a deal on gen 3 if you want. (I've seen both - small improvements that may or may not be worth anything to you -- mainly the addition of padded tablet slots and a change in fabric to something less likely to look wrinkled.)

TLS Macroloader Laptop Backpack (click to see pix) is just over 30L but amazing designed capacity, square/box shaped and a great price on mine. For warmer weather travel, I can go with just this for 1 to 2 night trips - a pair of shoes can go into the medium Eagle Creek (or even the slim eBag tube) or set of dedicated shoe covers. Everything you are seeing in my picture fit neatly inside, plus a pair of casual dress pants in the laptop L-zippered compartment (also, served as extra padding for the thin Sony Viao NB)

Thanks all for the suggestions. I will look at them to see if they fit. :)
