Marketplace for used travel gear?

Anyone know of forums or venues where you can buy/sell travel gear? I'm quite surprised a search turned up no previous threads about this.

I've got a Tom Bihn Co-Pilot (in Steel/Solar ) I'd like to trade in but can't find much of a secondary market aside from eBay and the tiny OBOW forums.

I must agree with you that it'd be nice to have a trading place for such activities. On eBay everything that says Tumi even if it's a used and disheveled item go for much higher price than anything else. Plus Ebay takes a lot of money from sellers. Lastly, you can't trade anything, and these people don't take care of their luggage like we do.

You can also do a national search for Craig's list.

come to think of it, I need to clean out my closet also......

The only issue with Craigslist is being burned by scammers. I found a site in Houston called Ayoopa that does travel gear rentals....way cool of a concept. I haven't used it yet, but I have a buddy who rented a backpack to go white water rafting in the Lower Yough (PA). He said it was pretty easy and cheap!

Maybe we can convince the folks here at FT to create a trading forum or marketplace for our gear? Similar to Coupon Connection?

that'd be nice. styleforum.net does the same thing for things like clothes and shoes.

That would seem like a good idea. Few others would look after travel gear as well as we here would.

Thumbs up New website for used travel gear

You should try this new website: www.atlantrip.com, great place to find used travel gear at the time and place you need it. Contacting a traveler trought atlantrip saved me time, money and place in my backpack since I bought the sleeping bag from this traveler at the place I were going to (NZ) instead of taking it with me from home. By the way, at our meeting he gave me great tips for my trip since he was leaving the place that time (already knew this path).
Good luck!

One Bag one world has a decent marketplace section to their forum. I've bought and sold there in there in the past.
