travel vest that becomes a bag

On Lufthansa long haul flights they are selling a black travel vest that can be turned into a carrier bag (about $80). I saw one yesterday on a woman in DFW airport. She said that's how she got her vest.

Does anyone know anything about these vests? Are they for sale elsewhere and at a more reasonable price?

I've done searches and can't find any info at all.

Thanks.

Doing a GOOGLE I found one similar to what I saw in an ad from 2010.

and then I wondered, why would Lufthansa be selling carryon/vests.

Lufthansa dont have anything similar in their worldshop or inflight catalogue. It would, in my opinion, be exactly the opposite of what they would normally try to retail to you! More suited to a LCC ;)

Of course, your original informant might be mistaken! Which one did you see in the ad?

Did the one you saw worn look more elegant than the examples on some of the pictures - which had people looking decidedly pear shaped!!

I think the convertible vest bag you're looking for is by Tintamar. Pylones USA has a lot of their stuff.

Cathay Pacific also has this convertible vest bag in the inflight catalogue.

I'm curious as to how it looks on. Did the lady actually look decent or did she look like she was nylon-homeless-not-so-chic?

Bingo. We have a winner!

Yes, that's the bag/vest.

Good question about looks. The woman looked like a bag lady with expensive stuff in her bags! No way could I wear it with business attire, but I was thinking that it might serve for casual travel.

Of course you have to put it in the bin to go through security.

Thanks for solving the mystery.

Not a bag that converts just a travel jacket, but this offer ends today. This other thread has referenced a reasonable priced travel jacket that looks well.

I heard bout it and I think this would be interesting to buy,I hadn't got any idea on how comfortable it is to use but I guess it'll be handy anytime.:)

All very interesting products, but if I needed one, I think I would just buy a non-convertable vest with enough pockets, and carry a small duffel or gym bag in one of the pockets. When I want a bag instead of a vest, I take off the vest and stuff it into the duffel - no muss, no fuss, everybody happy.
