Travelpro Crew 9 20 or 21" w/Tumi brief?

Right now I have an ancient Samsonite rollaboard that measures about 23" long (I don't know what the actual claimed size is). It fits on most planes, but just barely, and is bigger and heavier than I need for quick trips anyway. So I'm looking to replace/supplement it with something a bit more svelte.

I have a Tumi Alpha T-Pass Expandable Laptop Brief that I also bring, and it rides nicely on the extended handle on the Samsonite. I'm looking at the Travelpro Crew 9 series, either the 20" rollaboard or the 21" spinner. Some of the reviews complaint that they tip easily, and I'm afraid that would be even worse with the heavy Tumi on top.

Do any of you have experiences with this? If the Travelpro doesn't work well for this, any suggestions for another bag in the same general size range that would be better?

I have a Tumi just like yours and use the TP 9 and sometimes it does tip forward. Just depends on how you pack it. Most of the time when the Tumi is on top it tends to be a little more sturdy.

Just got the new Eagle Creek Backpack and that seems to make the TP a lot more stable when on top. Either way, it's a great bag and tipping or not, I wouldn't get rid of it.

I have the Crew 9 20 in. I've done about 10-15 domestic trips and a couple of Int'l trips. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I had a certain price point when I purchased the bag and it met my criteria.

The bag will have the tendency to tip if you put a laptop in the front pockets, which I don't do anymore. I don't really care for the smallest front pocket.

I do like the handle, it is very sturdy (so far). I typically don't put another bag on top, so can't really address that.

It's been on a 737, 777 (fit's sideways on UAL), A320,A330, A340 and fits nicely in the overhead bins.
