Roll Aboard vs. Roller Board

This type of luggage is something that you roll aboard the aircraft, and is called Roll Aboard luggage:

This is a board with rollers, and is called a Roller Board:

Thanks for your time. Carry on.

That is a pet-peeve of mine as well. Another one is the Italian coffee drink... espresso is correct, eXpresso is not. (Though I have heard that expresso is correct when you are describing the Spanish variant of the same.)

... And every time IRROPS is used a koala dies somewhere in China.

IRROPS makes sense though. Irregular Operations. Irregular has two R's in it. And since they use 3 of the letters from Operations, then someone could easily assume they use 3 letters from Irregular. Roller Board and Roll Aboard are completely different.

Nuclear describes a reaction releasing great amounts of energy.
Nukular just makes you sound bad.

Jewelry is something you might buy for your sweetie
Jewlery sounds like, well, something else.

The incorrect use of:

"your" and "you're"
"there" and "they're" and "their"

drives me crazy.

Don't forget "then" and "than".

Who gets that mixed up? I'm surprised they can even switch a computer on, let alone manage to face the right direction.

Roll Aboard vs. Roller Board

Oh... And it's should have. Not should of. As in, I should have had a v8. Should've is also acceptable.

I love how the op ended his post roll aboard luggage with "carry on".

Michael El Aug 31, 2012 9:33 pm

"Alot" instead of "a lot" always gets to me.

Powers106 Aug 31, 2012 9:35 pm

Someone should make it into a sign and stick it to the door at every gate with a little duck tape.

;)

My pet peeve is newbies who can't stick to Delta/SkyMiles-specific topics in this forum.

So I was sitting in this plain and saw this stewardess loose his temper.

Is this the FT hostility towards new members I've read so much about?

javabytes Aug 31, 2012 9:43 pm

Thank you for this Delta-specific public service announcement

RSSrsvp Aug 31, 2012 10:14 pm

This is not a DL specific topic so I am moving hti thread over to the Travel Products forum where I am sure they will enjoy continuing the discussion.

Which I regard with great great respect, regardless of how irrespective it was of the topic.

Or as Doris Day once sang: "Que so what so what"

thegasguru Aug 31, 2012 10:51 pm

Or as Homer Simpson once pointed out to Bart: "Noooo, this is the worst day of your life...so far..."

And besides...shouldn't Captain Crunch be an Admiral by now?

Your illustrations are incorrect.

Rollaboard® is a trademarked name of Travelpro International Inc. company. Like Kleenex®, its use has expanded to become a generic name, but since you have gone to the trouble to correct us, any use of Rollaboard® for any luggage brand other than Travelpro is technically improper. Any competing Samsonite model, for example, will simply refer to their product as "wheeled luggage".

fewer is to less... as number is to amount!

Those things that can be counted individually deserve 'fewer' ..as in "10 items or fewer", not "10 items or less".

Another instance: " As I have FEWER dollars to spend, I have LESS discretionary money. or, "Now that I speak English correctly, I've noticed I have FEWER friends who are LESS intelligent."

Call me a prig, but I do judge people in part, on how they speak.

Thanks for your warm welcome and vote of confidence. Fortunately RSSrsvp has remedied my egregious error and you can continue your life free of worries. In my defense, I only hear these terms misused on Delta flights. ;)

I thought IRROPS was what caused the koala to wind up in China in the first place. Poor lil' guy thought he was going to Brisbane...
