I have this bag and I love it. A few problems is the inability to remove some of the dividers on the inside. Part of the reason I bought it is because of the warranty. I have in the past used TravelPro and Tumi and like this one best.

Any response? I'm very curious to hear actual experiences about these two models.

To everyone else: a couple people have noted that the widebody doesn't fit in the 767 bins (Delta & United). Can other confirm from experience this is true? On these planes, does it have to go in a cabinet?

I'm trying to downsize from my 22" B&R, and I'd love to go with the widebody for the extra space. But the whole point is to get a bag that fits in bins better than my current one--it sounds like the widebody may not be the best choice.

The bigger the bag the more frequently you will have problems. Get the smallest you can possibly manage.

Hello everybody,
This thread just opened up at the right time!! I
had opened a thread earlier for a discussing my purchase but I guess I went wrong with edits and posting and lost it there..

Anyway, I have also purchased the 20" widebody baseline and plan to use this on my 5 day trip to the US in the near future. Will report on it as soon as I am back. :)

I plan to carry this bag along with a laptop bag for that trip. Will I fall foul of carry-on regs? Secondly, is it ok to travel with only carry-on luggage for a trip form MAN to IND?

Look forward to replies

Of course this is good generic advise, but I'm trying to optimize here. If someone who owns the widebody has had success getting it into an overhead bin on a UA 67, then the widebody is the best choice by far. If not, I'll go with something smaller. But the bag either does or doesn't fit, and I don't want to learn the answer the hard way.

I look at it that you have to go generic. Even if it will fit an empty overhead it won't necessarily fit if the overhead is ipartially full due to your late connection and boarding or whatever. I look at it from a probabalistic standpoint. The bigger the bag the more likely the problem. And I don't know that the widebodies are even within the carry on specs on some airlines. I would avoid them like the plague but obviously each person is different.

I've fit this bag into a DL 767 bin before. It was over 6 months ago, but I don't recall any issues besides having to turn it on its side at an angle. It was the window side bin.

What a great thread.

I'm planning purchasing a new carry-on luggage and the luggage in the topic is a very strong candidate.

I have one question regarding laptop. Could someone please tell me can I fit my 10,6x9,4x1,4 inch laptop into the outer side pocket? This would be a substantial benefit in the security check.

Thanks!

I purchased the 20" BR transcend widebody online and while I'm excited to make the jump from "disposable" luggage (my little samsonite looks like it went through a demolition derby) I was shocked by the sheer volume of the BR bag!

I travel 2x month, but rarely to the same city within the course of a year so I don't have great priority status on any airlines so coach class for me - and I'm having a hard time imagining the 20" fitting consistently.

Before I send it in to exchange for the 18" (I'm a fairly light packer!) I'm hoping that someone could save me freight fees by confirming that the 20" will indeed fit reproducibly in the overheads (this could also save my marriage as my husband is getting sick of the big box in the living room and of my weeks of agonizing).

Thanks!

I'm sorry but my advice is going to be get the 18 inch. ;)

I just got the 20" widebody and the KPC308 backpack to replace some Samsonite gear and a tumi backpack. Several trips coming up to various overseas destinations. first one is 5 segments and 14 days away from and all I am traveling with is the widebody and the KPC308.

When I saw that there were wide body rollers my first reaction was "what are they thinking"? Current bags are too big and carry on restrictions becoming MORE stringent. So they make bigger bags? Rollers need to be lighter, have more space relative to dimensions and more flexible organizational features. Not be bigger.

Look, I own a widebody which I use for travel to/from the UK on occasion when I need extra space and the plane is right. I would not buy a widebody as my main carry on bag though. I could see a widebody as a main bag for someone based in the UK who travels mainly on BA with hand baggage. I think of it as a specialist bag, not the main bag.

Why would you not use this as the main bag?

About how many days worth of stuff can you pack into this? I see b&r is a favorite here- but losing the packing space with the exterior handles has me taking pause.

I've owned the B&R 20" widebody carry-on for 2.5 years and flown ~150k miles with it across the US and internationally. Most of the time, I'm on 737s, 747s, and A380s and have always been able to put the bag into the overhead bin. Only on the short hop, propeller flights does the bag need to be gate checked, but for those flights, even 18" roll-a-board bags need to be gate checked.

The B&R 20" widebody is the best bag I have ever owned. It's been handled very roughly over the years and it still rolls smoothly, the zippers pull easily and the handles are all sturdy, albeit a bit scuffed. I'm currently on a 10 day international trip to attend a wedding, and everything in the list below is packed in the bag with the expansion slot open with a fair bit of space for a couple of souvenirs. (Alas, the bag had to be checked.) If I was going for 7 days and could cut out at least one pair of shoes, I would be able to close the expansion slot and take it as a carry-on.

Packing list:
- 2 nice dresses*
- 4 pairs shoes (1 pair wedge espandrilles, 1 pair 3" heals, 1 pair ballet flats, 1 pair flip flops)
- 3 pairs pants (1 pair jeans, 1 pair khakis, 1 pair black slacks)
- 3 dressy shirts
- 5 short sleeve shirts
- 1 cardigan sweater
- 1 pashmina/wrap
- 2 belts
- underwear, socks, bras
- bathing suit & travel towel
- toiletries for 10 days, plus make-up and jewellery (3 bags)
- hairdryer (regular, not travel/compact) & curling iron
- personal travel kit (flashlight, sewing kit, first aid kit, electrical adaptors, lint brush, stain remover, scissors, eye mask, earplugs)
- umbrella, camera, sunglasses and hat

The bag holds a tremendous amount. I've regularly travelled for 5-7 days for work with the bag, expansion slot closed, as a carry-on. It is simply the best bag I have owned and do own now. I recommend it to everyone who asks and have given the B&R 20" wide body carry-on as a gift twice. Both recipients have loved it, stating that they'd never buy expensive luggage for themselves, and have come to truly appreciate the maneuverability, spaciousness and reliability of the B&R pieces.

*I'm not a small woman, so please do not assume that women's clothes take up less space than men's clothes. I can fit all of this into 1 bag because it is so spacious inside.

Anyone flown w/ a widebody bag on a 767 (Delta)? Seems like the window side bins aren't deep enough and then middle bins won't support the added width. Any experiences?
