Samsonite Skywheeler

I need to get a new suitcase, for some upcoming international trips. My 17" bag is having trouble fitting enough clothing for a ten day trans-atlantic trip...

Does anybody have any info on the samsonite carbon cases? Or do you have a recommendation of a good samsonite?

I have both the Samsonite Skywheeler 2 Upright 67cm and 55cm. 'Skywheeler 2' is the updated 'Skywheeler' Series. Main changes are a different rubber protection lip over the zipper and slightly different design/colors. The 'Upright' ones have two fixed wheels whereas the 'Spinner' ones have four wheels.
Personally I'd go for the updated series as it makes the old one look cheapish. Also I'd opt for the Upright versions (personal preference).
Size wise the 67cm one is perfect for a one to two week trip.

So far I only noticed small scratchmarks and a big plus is that stickers peel of easily from the poly carbonate surface.

Anyone have any experience using this for extensive travel? Does the zipper hold up? Does the zipper allow water in during heavy rain?

I wish I could answer your question. However, I ended up not purchasing the Skywheeler. I bought another samsonite, which btw was a piece of crap.. Two months later, I bought a much better TravelPro Crew 7 20". It's flown 45K miles since May, and will do another SYD trip, in addition to 35K in travel next month!

Consider a 20". Should you ever travel to London a 22" the bag will not fit in the sizer used by the British Airport Authority even though the airlines allows the bag. We were fortunate that our carrier had a smaller bag we could transfer items to and check the 22". Definitely not fun. :td: :(
