DSLR's

Try Amazon or Ebay. But for me try some forum sites that tackles DSLR's and digicams for more advice. Most online shops gives you a higher price so it is good to ask people that actually buy their cameras online to see what are their experiences when buying them.

In most cases, Amazon doesn't sell the camera/lens/etc. itself. It hooks you up with someone else who does. Amazon is a pretty ethical outfit, so they tell you up front who that is - often, you have a choice at different prices - but you have to check the real seller out as well as Amazon.

(I got a Panasonic FZ35 from 6th Ave. Photo via Amazon a couple of months ago. Price was better than any other reputable source. Worked out just fine.)

Amazon is where I buy my camera gear online. Have had no issues so far and have purchased several Canon lenses.

When leveraging my points and miles, I use Sears via Lands End gift cards. They will price match local competition and they actually a decent selection of cameras and gear although you most likely will have to order it.

On the day I received it, I happened to go to their website, and was surprised to see it was reduced by $70....no doubt due to discounted prices widely available for the S90 and many other cameras during this Christmas season. One quick e-mail to B&H customer service, and I received an almost immediate response, letting me know that a price drop during the return policy period will be refunded !

This is good to know. Maybe HenryP can confirm this is the way it always works.

If a price drops during the transaction's return policy time period and you contact us and the reason for the drop is NOT a rebate from the vendor to us or a customer's mail-in or instant rebate subsidized by the vendor, we'll issue a store credit or refund, depending on circumstances.

B&H is the best online merchant I've ever dealt with. I couldn't recommend them enough.

Surprised no one mentioned BB.

B&H and Amazon for all of my lenses and accessories.
Best Buy (no tax in NH, 30 minutes drive) for my Canon EOS 20D, and 5D Mark II bodies.

Best Buy sells camera bodies at MSRP, and I got 24 month 0% financing on BB Card for both camera body purchases. 2-3 weeks ago IIRC, they had 36 month 0% financing for any digital cameras purchases over $699.

I don't consider the MSRP mark-up worth it, even for 24-36 months of 0% financing. Doubly so if it means doing business with the scumbags that are Best Buy.

Well said! :)

I would also add pricegrabber.com, they have very good prices for cameras and accesories.

PriceGrabber is a comparison service but not actually a store. You buy from one of the many vendors who's prices they display. And if you're not careful you'll end up buying from a rather disreputable one.

I had also cancelled an order earlier this year (more dithering on my part) which was quickly credited back to my Visa card.

All of my interactions with these folks have been great, so they certainly have my recommendation, trust, and confidence.

I had the same experience last month with a Sony Alpha 550. Came home from NYC to see that the price dropped $100. I sent an email on Saturday and had a response on Sunday afternoon. Money was back on my CC within 3 days. Just great service all around.

If you get the chance, find a cheap fare in the MR section and then take a trip to their super-store. The experience alone is worth the ticket price (at least if you are coming from Euorpe and need a camera). The staff in the store are fantastic. They actually talked me down from buying a full frame camera, which meant I spent less but got the right camera from my needs. Not many places will do that.

Amazon.com (make sure they are the seller - you will see this under the In Stock message. Should say "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com")

Adorama.com - have bought several items from Adorama's site and once in a while on Amazon.com with Adorama as the seller (they had cheaper shipping on Amazon than on their own site)

B&H - I bought one thing here. I had to return it but overall the experience was very good.

I would highly recommend B&H Photo. I have spent several thousands $ in the last several months and have had the best experience with them. They are an authorized Olympus dealer and they have a huge selection of Oly and other products. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. In addition, the product is shipped right away. I will most likely look to them first before, and again after, searching any other site.

I have never bought from them and have no financial interest in them, but several FTers have recommended them and they have an outstanding rating on resellerratings.com (over 9.8 with over 13,000 ratings). They were featured in todays' HHonors Shopping Mall e-mail as giving 2 Hilton points per $ in addition to whatever your credit card gives you. The e-mail said this was a limited-time offer. I didn't check the specifics of the offer, since I'm not in the market for camera gear at the moment, so I don't now how true that is, and I don't know how this compares with other points-earning programs B&H partners with, but if someone here wants to shop with them it might be worth checking this out.
