Photo Slideshow software?
 

I am looking for a good photo slide show software.

I recently got Nero 7 Ultimate, but I cannot add music to the slideshow. I have not really tried too hard to see if it is option but it is not immediately obvious.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good DVD photo slide show making software?

I was actually going to recomend Nero. Roxio also makes a software MyDVD to do what you are looking to do. Even Window Movie Maker (Free) can be used to create the slideshow, however you would still need a way to put it on DVD if you want a menu, etc....

Microsoft has a free download "Photo Story 3". It does one thing, and it does it exceptionally well - creates slide shows (including pans, fads, music, etc.) from digital photos. It's very easy to use and the results are impressive. I'm not easily impressed, but this program is a real gem:

It looks like a nice tool for the money. You would still need the software to put it on DVD. But if you own Nero, you have that ability...

I've used Sony's Vegas Movie Studio+DVD (came with the VAIO) but it does video and photos so probably more than what you need.

The Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements bundle on my old machine worked really well for editing photos and imported DV footage then burning them to disc with music, transistions etc.

If you don't mind spending a bit of money ($30ish) Photodex ProShow works great for me. You just drag and drop photos and music (mp3 or wav) and add any effects you may want. Burns to a videoCD or DVD.

Another vote for PS3. IMHO, it does a better job than some programs that costs up to $100. It is extremely intuitive and easy to use. You can add text and sound (and music). You can control transitions from shot to shot.
As said, its short coming is the lack of DVD burning capability. To counter that, I use Adobe Premiere Photo Elements (paid version). In fact, I do my slide show with PS3 and then use Adobe PE to burn DVD. They work well together.

If you have Vista Ultimate or Home Premium, it's all there, inc. burning the DVD.

I'll add my modest experience with slide-show software.

A few years ago, I started with PhotoStory3. I still like it.

Last year I learned Windows Movie Maker basics on my XP machine,
at first primarily because I was converting old AVI files to WMV..
It is also stable, and mixes video and stills OK.

More recently I discovered that WMM on my Vista Premium machine
has a very different interface, and is called Movie Maker LIVE.

Two months ago I played with Animoto for a while.
Fun, not quite enough flexibility, maybe too much Pizazz.
Very slick for cranking out little 30-sec bites for free.
Don't use their AP via Facebook, go straight to Animoto.com.

Last month I finally discovered the feature in PICASA 3
to make "movies". I love the "Face Mode" Pan and Zoom transition.
Very nicely integrated with my collection which is already in PICASA.

Today I made a few videos to upload to Facebook,.
and chose to use XP-based WMM. I like the many choices
it gives in the trade-off between bit-rate and file-size.

I thought all this experimenting would lead to a preferred
software., Surprisingly I think I can see using each of them
in diffeent situations for the near future.

There are many slideshow maker software, there are free. Windows Movie Maker， Ｅ.Ｍ. Free DVD Photo Slideshow, Photo story 3 and so on. Try and choose what you love best.

Just tried 2 other ways to create a slide show that fits the OP's desire.

(1) I use PowerPoint from the MS Office 2010-BETA (free beta version for download). You can drag & drop photos onto the slide, add sound, add text. Set all the transitioning & timing effects. And there you go.
Still need some other to burn DVD, if you need DVD.

(2) I also use LR3-BETA.2. You can add music and set duration. this BEAT is also available for free download (adobe dot com). Not as elaborate as the ppt though.

I use slide show function in XnView, a freeware. It also has filters for many file formats including Nikon NEF raw and older Kodak D25. The only thing it can't do is make a DVD movie to use in a DVD player.

Actually, I've got pretty exacting requirements on setting the transition effects, how long between each picture or effect, text, adding music, etc, etc. All while maintaining the highest pic quality possible.

For that, I found Ulead DVD Pictureshow 4 to be best. (Actually, Pictureshow 2 outputs in slightly higher quality but fewer effects.)

I'm now testing a few others to see which ones actually output in full HD. Still haven't found one I like yet...

The free trail is for 30 days,i think it is fine for me,i can edit the pics,add templates,effect,,,now i am thinking to buy it,,what do you think about it? :)
