Good technique!
You must be up on some high ground, shooting almost straight down.

Hong Kong Victoria Harbor at Night, 2019

Composite of 2 bracketed shots. ISO = 100 for both shots; 1st shot 30 sec & f/5.8; 2nd shot 15 sec & f/22

Composite of 2 bracketed shots. ISO = 100 for both shots; 1st shot 20 sec & f/5.8; 2nd shot 25 sec & f/16

As you can see, I was trying to experiment different exposures to determine what is best. Conclusion: Not sure! Next time (if there was a next time, we are talking about HK), I'd try 3 or 5 shot bracketing, 1f stop apart. I did that nicely in PuDong, Shanghai.
Obviously tripod was used.

This was shot on the stair case that leads down from the car park. We were about half way down the winding stairs for this shot...pointing down, about 45. Taken at 24mm on Canon R3 with 1000-ND filter for the long exposure.

It was raining all evening here, so I didn't bother staying up. And here I even borrowed a telescope...

Seven (!) years ago, I was at Marina Bay for New Years Eve. Five months ago, I was back. First time seeing NYE fireworks anywhere since the pandemic began. The show was surprisingly long with quite a bit happening before midnight. We ended up getting a fantastic position on the south corner of the bay after making some guesses about the positioning / geometry of the show.
