Buy Sony a6000 or a6500?

Need really good camera that can capture photos. My main focus is photography and I want pics to lol real, colourful, auto focus, and have that details that phones cannot produce.

Best buy was selling the Sony a6000 for $500 vs the a6500 is 1200-1600.

Is there even any real difference when it comes to capturing photos? Both cameras do come with extra lense.

The main advantage of the newer model (A6500) is that it has sensor shift based image stabilization built in the camera and thus you have better chances to capture sharp pictures even with longer shutter speeds. Of course, you can still get similar results also with the older camera if you mount a lens with optical stabilization, but the sensor based approach is more universal. And I would think that the kit lens(es) that comes with the camera body are just a starting point as these kit lenses may have limitations in focal lengths offered and lowlight capabilities.

Hi,

This definitely comes down to your shooting habits and your need of the specific linked to the A6500 vs the A6000.

If video isn't a priority for you and you will be using stabilized lenses anyway for the price of the A6500 you could have the A6000/Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 or the A6000/35mm f/1.8/50mm f/1.8.

Otherwise even if many dislike it the Zeiss 16-70 f/4 is a great all rounder and produces great pictures if you get a good copy.

A6500 definitely

Used both on safari (I'm a novice ) and loved the a6500. Wouldnt get hung up on if a lens comes in the pkg unless it's a lens you know you want. I got the zeiss 16-70 first then added 70-200 f4 zoom. Then the 85mm and 10-16mm.

check b&h prices online. They are fantastic with warranties and returns. I believe Best Buy withholds 10% on returns. I have ordered from adorama but not had to return anything so can't speak to that.

dpreview has a forum: sony aps-c talk , I received a lot of help there.

I second the opinion on 16-70!
