Travel camera
I am looking for a small pocket-cam like the one I have/had.
Years of usage made the chip go wonky and the optics are dusted and the battery is crap. Old product: Pentax Optio T30 (7MP, 3x Zoom, 3" touchscreen instead of 47 knobs). New: something along that (no, nothing "included" in a smartphone, because that stays at home for leisure..) - maybe nowadays lighter/more slim? Not planning to be any kind of amateur in photography, just "snaps" from a trip. Alas I dont need changeable optics or such "advanced" stuff :) |
Pentax Optio T30 - 120g, 95 x 57 x 19 mm
If you have the cash, Canon G9x will be a lot better quality wise(~$400, 206g, 98x58x31). Otherwise, pick something from this list. If you want something smaller than the G9x/T30, quality won't be better than a recent smartphone (you'll get optical zoom and maybe image stabilization that smartphones do not have) https://www.dpreview.com/products/se...e=UltraCompact |
The G9x looks very nice, thanks.
Some reviews talk about "poor battery life" but dont detail on it. |

g9x II got announced. $530 MSRP g9x (first version) was $530 MSRP November 2015, $420 currently, maybe it'll go lower or out of stock, who knows |
