It is indeed... Of course, Fortification Hill is not really a hill - it's a flat-topped plateau formed by volcanism with the caprock a thick layer of basalt surrounded by cliffs

I suppose this picture qualifies for this thread, although it's not a view I suspect any of us would like to have. My father took this from his navigator's seat (and bubble) on his B-17 over Germany while his group was under attack from the Luftwaffe. He survived his 25-mission requirement (more like 40, he said) with only one Purple Heart. He was lucky; more fliers from the US 8th Air Force died in WW2 than the entire US Marine Corps in both theaters.
