The Wave, Arizona

A magnificent place very rarely mentioned here, it doesn't require
a long flight and you don't need tons of money or miles to get there.
Still probably in the top 3 the most breathtaking nature wonders in the world.
Hope you like it - Andrew

A fascinating place - The hardest part isn't the trip, it's getting the permit to be able to hike there. I believe they still only allow 20 visitors per day, and easily receive 10x that number of applications. I was fortunate enough to get a permit during my Zion/Bryce/Antelope/Horseshoe/Wave/etc. long weekend a few years back.

Did you also get to the Second Wave, about 100 yards southwest, and Hamburger Rock?

One of the "must shoot" sites, along with Antelope Canyon down the road, for serious landscape photographers, IMHO.

Agree, it's even harder as only 10 permits are available online.
10 remaining permits are given away in a lottery the day before
at their station on US 89. I just advise people to be prepared,
pre-type all the info and do a fast copy and paste action.
I was able to score 2 days in a row that way.

Yes, I visited all the locations, have some shots of the hamburger rock,
just didn't like the composition as much as those pictures I posted.
A hard choice, didn't want to overwhelm with too many similar
photographs

It's definitely on my list of places to go. Been to Antelope Canyons and loved it.

My main concern about it is getting my own unique photos there. A lot of the pictures I see from there are very similar, and it seems there's not too much in creative composition. But I still want to go.

Beautiful, beautiful shots ^

I lived in Arizona for seven years but never knew of this place. Seeing stuff like that makes me regret not giving a s-word in college geology.

Agree that's why I cared about having a cloudy sky so much. Without it it becomes really repetitive. Still you can spend a day exploring different framing and various textures etc. It's still probably easier to get an original shot there than in Grand Canyon

I flew directly to PHX and did the 4+ hour drive that evening to stay in Page. After Antelope/Horseshoe/Toadstools the first day, I drove 2-3 hrs/day to hit Bryce, Zion, Pink Sands, Wave, etc., and then 5 hrs back to PHX for a red-eye.

I love your photos in general Big_Foot and would very much like to see those of The Wave as well, but when I click on your link I get an "Error 404" message.
