Bleh. Went into my local photo place today to compare the 1510 and 1500 side by side...finally. Discovered that the case I thought was the 1500 is actually the 1600, my co-worker gave me the wrong model number. Anyways, just ordered the 1510 on Amazon using the GC I got from trading in my old 18-55mm kit lense. Might still get the 1600 if I see one on sale soon.

The 1510 looks ideal (for carry on purposes) but not sure its internal dims are enough to take 2 bodies, a couple of lenses and a laptop measuring 40x30x3cm
Not at all, more information the better.

with the divider set and the laptop lid organizer, I get 2 5DmkII, 50D (IR converted) then 3 lens range from 17-200mm with room to spare for others lens and accesories. The lid organizer is full with a Dell Lattitude, power pack w/ adapters.

The key is using the dividers and lid organizers to maximize carrying capacity.

I can get an H2, H3 5 lenses, Thinkpad W700 and four flashtubes that I removed from my heads into one 1510.

When I first started using Pelicans I used cut out foams. There was a lot of padded spaces. When the divider sets were introduced I went from 3 cases to two due to being able to carry more in the same cases.

... thats just a few $$$$$ in those cases...Wow.

Only time I use foam now is for specialised gear, but agree with the consolidation by going to the organizers.

It was a living.

Glad that I am shooting whatever I want, wherever I want, however I want and whoever I want now. I haven't figured out the whyever yet!

1510 just got here. Pretty much all set up, just wish the foam was in individual squares instead of columns, that would make it a lot easier.

So the Incase DSLR Backpack internal structuring (the velcro) fits perfectly into the pelican insert for the 1510. This would make it a lot easier, as you can have you camera gear in one, your "plane stuff" in the other, and your clothes in a checked bag with no valuables.
