Canon T1i and S95. I have better control over depth of field with the SLR but the S95 is less noticeable and easier to carry. I just spent a couple of weeks in Nepal and got great pictures with both cameras in all kinds of weather.

Nikon D70 that I bought in 2004. I don't shoot at high ISO. I tend use a Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 and either a 18-70 DX with a 35/2 DX or swap the 18-70 DX with a 50/1.8 AFD. V impt, Gitzo traveler series tripod.
I also shoot film when I can, with Velvia 50 RVP. Nikon F100, 18-35/3.5-4.5 and a 50/1.8 AFD and a 85/1.8 AFD, Cokin P holders with graduate filters and C-POL.
All in a smallish Lowepro Photo Runner belt/shoulder bag.

I have used my Sony DSC-HX9V for several trips out of the country since May. I needed a camera that was small (point and shoot size) with a great zoom for photographing Surfers, Wildlife, etc. I can bring it to the beach, on a hike, to the bar, or really anywhere without problems - and I will always have high quality photos and videos of my trip.

If travelling light:
Sony A100 with 16-80mm Carl Zeiss lense
Travelling heavy:
Sony A850 with various Minolta Maxxum lenses.
Question: My wife wants a P&S camera when we don't want a dSLR. Since we don't always get white balance correct, what is the cheapest P&S camera that can shoot in RAW?

Olympus E-P2 -- I love this thing.
20mm Panasonic f/1.7 lens
I'm still sorting out the glass; right now I've got the 14-150mm and a manual 57mm lens; but I think I'm switching this around.
I've found that when travelling I can shoot 90% of what I could with my 50D + 24-70mm f/2.8; at a fraction of the weight -- and I have it with me *all the time*. TOTALLY makes up for the lost flexibility.
m4/3rds is really worth looking into; especially with an EVF.

Full Kit:
Canon 7D w/Battery pack, 430 EXII flash and 24-105mm L lens (and soon to be 70-200mm 2.8 IS mk II)
Travel light
Sony NEX-5N
The Sony is good if I'm traveling around a lot and want a quick point and shoot but the 7D kit goes with if I'm doing some serious photography or attending an even which I want to get good pic.
The Sony is awesome for theme parks and is amazing in low light (good quality up to Iso 1600). Not quite pocket camera but nice and light.

I was doing some research into my next camera and the Lumix GX1 with the PowerOIS lens seems very interesting.
micro 4/3 with a 14-42 lens, minus the protruding lens. Seems like a natural evolution...

Leica for me!
I carry a Leica X1.
Better quality than all but the best PRO DSLR. Small form factor, can carry a large sensor camera in a jacket pocket.
Only downside, its 35mm, no zoom. Which will put it out of the running for most, but i zoom with my feet.
I prefer the "street photography" feel anyway. Who wants to walk around looking like a tourist? Anyone curious about the specifics, let me know.

I've gotten good results from my Lumix FZ-40. It's a nice pro-sumer P&S with some good manual features. I've had it for a year and haven't figured out how to do everything with it.
It's been a good camera for planespotting and I've also gotten some nice long-exposure shots out of it.
I teeter on the edge here between the far end of pro-sumer land and not wanting to pick up another $3500 hobby while at the same time wanting a bigger zoom and more control in some situations.

It's split between my S95 & D3100. For photos on the flight (meals, etc), I tend to use the S95. However, the D3100 is my main camera for everything outside of the flight.
