Any differences in cargo rules for AA award ticket booked using BA Avios?

See title. Wondering if anyone has experience here? I imagine I'd want to call AA ahead of time to double check everything but hope it'll be the same as buying cash ticket?

There's no difference. The procedure stays the same no matter if you are on an award or revenue ticket. Avios, AAdvantage miles or any other partner award - doesn't matter. Call AA to note that you'll be travelling with a pet in the hold, and be at the airport early (more than two hours prior to departure).
How smoothly/quick things go largely depends on the experience of the agent checking you in. Know the rules, and don't hesitate to challenge the agent if they clearly have no clue. I've had bad to nighmarish experiences at PHL, CLT and MIA with legacy US staff who were totally unfamiliar with the whole concept and the rules even two years after the merger (US never allowed pets in the hold).
