What should we consider for a driving trip with 2 cats for SFO/ord
Not with airports but my friend will drive SFO/ord routing with her 2 cats. What's best way to find lodging that accepts pets, and what should she consider? This is the first time she's doing this drive.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!

Where there isn't one, some other options are Red Lion Inns (Salt Lake City - very pet friendly) and in Winnemucca, I think we stayed at Winnemucca Inn & Casino and they didn't have a problem with our cats. Lincoln NE - definitely a La Quinta.
To consider: don't drive more than 8 hours/day with the cats, offer them food and water several times during the day, review other threads in this forum for traveling with cats (there are several). Oh, and never, ever open the car door without the cats being SECURELY fastened in their carriers!

PET Friendly hotels
First do not assume that because you are PLATINUM we have to accommodate your pets.
Second visit PETSWELCOME.COM and select the hotel that allows pets.
I can tell you, that if you are ADA we cannot ask you anything about your "illness" but we can enforce you to follow the ADA standards.
Don't be shocked when the hotel applies charges for your pet, specially when it is not in the required vest and it is running around the hotel off the leash.
Indicators you do not meet ADA requirements, are when you leave your pet in the room so you can drink at the bar. Or when you allow people to "PET" your animal.
If you are actually ADA then you already KNOW THE GUIDELINES.
As hotel employees we enforce these rules.
We are not naive, so please if you're going to abuse the rules, at least know the guidelines. It's pretty much common sense.

Starwoods are generally pet friendly. In fact, some alofts "sponsor" shelter dogs and have them visit lobbies as a way to facilitate a match with an adoptive family.
I'd want to carry a source of cool water in the car and even to consider avoiding travel during very hot times so as to avoid the risk of being without AC if there's car trouble.

You need to be careful when searching for hotels that allow pets and verify specifically that CATS are allowed. Far more allow dogs but not cats, i.e. Marriott, the chain we no longer stay in.
